Here’s a quick pic of us just leaving for our trip that I forgot to post. We are still all smiles. I’ll do one on our way home to see if the smiles have stuck. R.I.P. my sunglasses as I have already lost them. At least they were freebies so it’s not too big of a loss. I guess I know what my first souvenir is going to be. Luckily, Mike has been letting me use his.
We had one minor scare at 4:30 am this morning. Our hotel door opened and someone started to come in. It was a sixty year old hotel front desk worker that had gotten two rooms mixed up. I’m not sure who was scared more, us or him. Mike jumped up in his boxers with his first cocked back ready to uppercut the intruder, and I started screaming. It’s laughable now, and that employee has apologized about 100 times to us. Mike had to calm himself by watching “Duck Tales.” “Uncle Donald is my favorite” - Mr. Haymaker Mike Nelson
We decided to do some sight seeing this morning. We took an Uber for $40 to downtown Chicago. It cost us $90 to get back. That’s how they always get travelers because they know you have to go back home. It was well worth the money, and Michael and I enjoyed our experience. It was his first time there, so we made the most of it. Our first stop was to cool off at this fountain thing, where you can walk through a fountain park, and there are buildings with LED lights that change colors to make different faces.
Notice on that last one that I’m trying to run from the water. Michael told me to back up a little and right as I did that, the wind shifted and blew on me. Mike had a good laugh. We than made our way over to the bean and walked through Millenial Park.
We had just as much fun looking at the tourists as we did the sights.
We finished by looking at Buckingham Fountain and walking along Lakeshore Drive and sticking our toes in Lake Michigan.
Love always,
Matti and Mike
