Basking in the HEAT

Dear Mom and Dad,

Here's just a quick update, but not much has changed. Charlie and I are still in Montanita. LOVING the warm weather. Our food selection is limited because we don't want to eat out for every meal. Our breakfast consists of eggs and toast; our lunch is usually a toasted chicken and cheese sandwhich, and for dinner we have been eating out, usually pizza because that's the cheapest. Last night we did eat at cute little sushi place. The rice wasn't the best {I see I'm not the only one that stuggles to cook white rice} but everything else about the rolls were phenominal. Charlie even got just plain uncooked tuna. I tried on bite, and thought it was disgusting. It wasn't even seared. Nasty. Our bill for two rolls {10 pieces each} Charlie's tuna, and two fantas was $23, which included the tip as well. That's a cheap sushi bill, but that money has been covering all three meals for a day.

I LOVE the strawberry daquiris here. They are $2.50 and made with the freshest fruit. I can't stop drinking them and I keep telling myself that "hey at least it's a serving of fruit." Probably not a good excuss, but "I'm on vacation," right?

We have made friends with the locals here, and everyone is super nice. One guy taught me how to make the hemp braclets, so if I decide to not come back to the states, don't stress I have a job here. We sat on the beach watching the sunset and the guys played guitars and sang a variety of songs. Charlie even got into the music and played\sang along with them. One of the songs was your wedding song that I think is called "Stand By Me." So beautiful.

Here's a few pictures of Charlie and I enjoying the sun...if you're not already super jealous of us.

......and there can be such a thing as too much sun.....

Well, we better get back to the beach! Stay warm!!

Love always,

Matti Jo and Charles Dale

  1. Yes one of our weddigs songs was "Stand by Me"The guy that sang at our wedding was singing at Ruebins as a fund rasier for Tim Horseman this last SAturday. Tim has had a stroke and is in a rehabilatiion center and might be home in january? Anyway they had a jam session at Ruebins and several different bands and single singers played a lot of tunes and Steve Straight (who sang at our wedding) was there and I requested "Stand by me" It is a very pretty song. The other song that was part of the weddig was "Love me Tender" by Elvis another slow song but very pretty!! I am suprised you remebered our wedding song but I do know everytime I hear it on the radio I point it out--- so you must listen to me once in a while;) There are just some songs that when you hear them they takes you to a certain place and time in your life and those 2 songs always do that to me!!
Hope you are using he sun screen daily and reapplying!! Galdyou are getting to know the locals... what a great experience!
    Love and Miss you!
