Dear Mom and Dad,
We had our first full day in Barcelona today. I was a little worried that we wouldn't get much done as Mike had "jet lag" aka he slept until noon, and to be honest I slept until eleven myself. We did so much today though. First, we bought two day passes for the pu license so way system. Those were $15 a piece and well worth it. We rode the subway at least ten times today and plan on utilizing it tomorrow when we do some more sight seeing.
Our first stop was the Boqueria. This food market has been around since the medieval times. We had empanadas, meat on a stick, chocolate, and cheese and meat. Dad, you would have loved the fresh oysters.
Then we visited Santa Maria del Mar. This church was built boulder by boulder by the citizens. Michael is in front of the church. I'm off to the side next to some statue. I'm sure it's of importance. And a other tourist taking a pic because their stances are too funny.
The zoo was our last stop of the day before food and rehydrating. We enjoyed looking at the animals and most exhibits were open air.
If you look close enough on the next picture, you can see a monkey's hand. They would get close to the glass and play with you.
We stopped for some tapas and drinks. Wine is only $3 a glass. That's like having a fruit salad for free. Our snack today was fried fish and chicken wings. Currently, we are showering and going to head to dinner.
Love you,
Matti and Mike
